Tens of Thousands of Surabaya Residents Reject Mass Murder in Palestine 

SURABAYA INDONESIA - The Defend Palestine Action in the City of Heroes was attended by tens of thousands of action participants, crowding Jln. Governor Suryo Jln. Yos Sudarso and Jln. Tunjungan and Jln. Embong Malang - Surabaya. This action was initiated by the PD Public Policy Wisdom Institute (LHPK). Muhammadiyah Surabaya City by mobilizing Islamic Community Leaders and other Youth Leaders.

Also present were the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Member of the DPR RI Rizki Sadiq, Member of the East Java DPRD Lilik Hendarwati, Deputy Chair of the Surabaya City DPRD Reni Astuti and Special Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs Faozan Amar. They mingled with tens of thousands of East Javanese people in the Defend Palestine Action.

Since Sunday (12/11/2023) morning at 05.30 WIB, the masses have packed the Grahadi Building and its surroundings. They are united in using the attribute of support for Palestine. 

Starting from flags, all-white clothes, to several posters reading support for the freedom of the Palestinian people. Not only that, they also united in voicing condemnation of Israel's military aggression.

In front of tens of thousands of action participants, Khofifah started his oration by inviting them to recite Sholawat Asyghil together. Simultaneously, all the participants in the action followed by chanting the prayer together.

In this peaceful and orderly action, Khofifah also voiced how important independence is for Palestine. He said the importance of support, both prayers and donations, was echoed by the Indonesian people, especially East Java.

"Today we strengthen our commitment, that we all stand here offering prayers and support for independence for Palestine, " he said. 

Khofifah emphasized that the action called by the people of Surabaya and East Java is expected together with the actions of other countries throughout the world. Most of whom agree to reject Israel's military aggression.

"Today they are all taking action to reject Israeli aggression against Palestine. And our action today is a form of support for Palestine. Both institutionally from the Central Government, the East Java Provincial Government, and the entire East Java community, " he stressed.

"We all ask Allah SWT to give Palestine strength, safety and independence. Amen, " he said, which was also agreed by all the participants in the action.

Furthermore, Governor Khofifah believes that what the people of East Java are fighting for, God willing, Allah SWT will grant. "God willing, what we are doing here will be approved by Allah SWT. 

Hopefully this will also be in line with the dhohiron wa bathinan efforts, the inner and outer endeavors of all of us and many countries in the world, " he said.
